The Thread | Women+Tech

Women in tech taking up space, sharing stories, and building real connections and bold businesses, one cozy Vancouver meetup at a time. From code to coffee chats, pitches to potlucks, you're invited!

The Thread Code of Engagement

As The Thread keeps growing, the culture we are shaping only stays strong if we all help protect it. The Thread was built for meaningful connection, genuine giving, and women+ supporting each other across the tech ecosystem.

These agreements help us keep The Thread relevant, generous, and valuable for everyone:

How we connect

Relationships before promotion:
The Thread is a relationship-first community. Prioritize personal connection by participating, engaging, and supporting others before promoting yourself, your event, your service, or your work.

Protect the quality of the community:
Referral links, unrelated content, repeated self-promotion, mass recruiting, cold outreach, and transactional networking dilute the experience for everyone and will be removed by moderators.

Ask before cross-promoting:
We value collaboration and healthy pollination across the ecosystem. If you lead another community, membership, event, or initiative, please connect with us first before sharing it with The Thread community. Depending on fit and timing, aligned opportunities may become partnerships, be added to the Community Calendar, or be reviewed case by case.

LinkedIn belongs in LinkedIn:
To keep conversations more natural and community-focused, LinkedIn profiles and introduction posts belong in our private LinkedIn group: https://threadwomentech.com/links.

Community access:
Private Thread channels are reserved for active members. Leaving the main WhatsApp community also removes access to the private LinkedIn group and other member-only channels.

How we grow together

Make clear asks:
If you need support, context helps. Share enough information so members understand how they can help you.

Personal invitations:
If you know a local woman+ in tech who would genuinely benefit from The Thread and contribute positively to our culture, invite her to apply here.

Open aligned doors:
If you know a person, venue, partner, sponsor, collaborator, or opportunity that could help The Thread serve more women+ in tech, we welcome thoughtful introductions. Please connect with us at: info@threadwomentech.com.

Help us amplify our mission:
If The Thread has supported you, help us make our work more visible. Follow, engage with, invite, and tag The Thread on LinkedIn so more people across the ecosystem can discover us and see what we are building.

How we gather

In-person first:
The Thread exists to strengthen local, in-person connections across Greater Vancouver. Virtual events are not usually promoted here, though recordings or useful resources may be shared afterward when relevant to the community.

Keep external memberships outside the group:
We welcome aligned ecosystem events when they are shared through the right channel. To keep The Thread centered on local connection and shared trust, we do not promote external memberships, private groups, or unrelated community platforms that actively recruit members to join other communities outside The Thread.

Sharing events thoughtfully:
To share an event with the community, submit it via our Support Form for consideration for the Community Calendar. Before submitting, check The Thread Luma calendar to avoid overlap with existing gatherings.

Honor your RSVP:
When you say yes to a Thread event, we count on you to keep your word and honor your commitment. If your plans change, update your RSVP or notify the host as early as possible. After 3 no-shows, members move to a low-priority list. After 7 no-shows, members will lose access to future Thread invitations.

The Thread grows through the trust we protect, the generosity we practice, and the doors we open for one another. Thank you for helping shape the tech community that many of us have been looking for 💜
